More Than a Fair: Why Community Health is My Strategic Mission

When I recently reflected on the last six years at Clason Communications, I did so with a specific "Strategic Vision" in mind. I wanted to move beyond just being a voice for hire and become a catalyst for the stories and movements that truly matter to our community.
At the top of that list is a topic that has become deeply personal to me: Healthy Aging.
The "Personal" is Professional
As I’ve leaned into my own journey of healthy aging, I realized that I wasn’t just looking for fitness tips—I was looking for a community ecosystem. This personal quest led to the creation of Healthy Fountain Hills and the annual Community Health Fair.

People often see the "event" and assume I’ve jumped into event coordination. But for me, the Health Fair isn't about logistics; it’s about strategic communication. It is a live-action version of what I do every day: connecting people with the resources, experts, and stories they need to thrive.
Curating a "Wellness Team"
One of the things I am most proud of is that the sponsors you see at our Health Fair aren't just names on a banner. Many of them make up my own personal "Wellness Team." These are the healthcare professionals I trust with my own longevity and well-being.
By bringing them into the spotlight, I’m not just "promoting a client"—I’m advocating for a Blue Zone-inspired lifestyle. We are incredibly lucky to live in a town that is actively seeking Blue Zones certification, and I see it as my professional mission to communicate how we can all lean into that movement.
Health as a Communication Strategy
Why does a communications firm care about blood pressure checks and longevity markers? Because a healthy community is a vibrant, connected, and resilient community.
When we share the stories of our "Hometown Heroes" or highlight the work of local grant recipients through the Fountain Hills Community Foundation, we are strengthening the social fabric of our town. The Health Fair is simply the physical manifestation of that strategy. It’s an opportunity to:
Bridge the Gap: Connecting residents with local providers in a low-pressure, high-value environment.
Encourage Connection: Building the "Right Tribe"—a core Blue Zones principle—through shared goals.
Promote Advocacy: Giving local health experts a platform to share their life-changing expertise.
Looking Ahead
As we look toward the 2027 Health Fair, my goal remains the same: to use my toolkit as a communicator to make Fountain Hills the healthiest version of itself.
Wellness is a team sport, and I am honored to be the one helping to call the plays.
